After redoing our Cold Cup Tests, we gathered "better" data that made more sense to us as we worked to control variables we identified we missed in running the investigation. We certainly had more supportive data around the following ideas:
1. More layers means a cup doesn't warm up as much.
2. The lid makes a slight difference, but not as much. This means keeping a lid on your cold drink will keep it colder a little longer.
3. Metal cups are better at keeping liquids cooler for longer.
4. The straw didn't really make an impact at all either way!
We're still curious about hot liquids, and in fact, there were questions on our DQB that were related to replacing our cold water with warm water and if hot liquids dropped in temperature just as much as cold water increased in temperature over the same time frame.
So with all that, we tried out hot water in our cups! We'll be compiling all our data tomorrow to see what changes we can see, if any!
