Celebrating National Engineers Week 2018
Students in 6th grade are celebrating National Engineers Week! Fifth graders will celebrate it later in this year as we're participating in a research study we can't delay right now. Sixth graders are using what they know about matter to design a hydraulic machine that uses a two-syringe system. They're limited on materials. Last year, sixth graders did something similar, but this year's theme is Celebrate Wonder, so we put a twist on the project, allowing for more creativity in whatever machine they designed!

Celebrating National Engineers Week 2017
Students in 5th and 6th grade are celebrating National Engineers Week by participating in two design challenges related to their units of study. Sixth graders are building hydraulic judo bots as a break in their chemistry unit, understanding how the properties of matter affect the design of their bots. Fifth graders are building windmills as part of their data unit, comparing cost and the amount of weight they can lift. Awesome jobs young engineers!

Celebrating National Engineers Week 2016!
We're celebrating all things engineering this week! From learning about their collaboration and problem-solving skills, to the many types of engineers, students are engaging in what makes engineers truly unique and valuable! We're lucky to have access to MaKey MaKeys from a DonorsChoose Project and Finch Robots loaned from the Chicago Public Library! This is where we learned about computer engineering. Later in the week, we learned about biomedical engineers and their creation of bionic devices and extended to green engineering and its role in sustainable living.
