We meet at the start of each class on the rug in front of the SMART Board to learn our goals for the day. Color coded chairs at each of the eight student tables give each student a specific job: notebook agent, manager, getter, and returner. Specific materials that are used by each grade level are along the perimeter of the room. Materials that are more frequently used by everyone (tape, glue, scissors, etc.) are organized at the center table for each access.

I describe the energy of my classroom as "controlled chaos."  Everyone knows where they can be in the room when we are engaged in a lab activity or an engineering design challenge.   It's a busy and bustling place of learning!
