We had full class agreement on where the gas comes from when a bath bomb is placed in water. It didn't come from inside the bath bomb, but rather from an interaction between the bath bomb and water making new matter that was a gas (since we saw bubbles forming)!
We agreed it would make sense to look at ingredients lists for the bath bombs (both store-bought and home made recipes) to see any patterns.

We saw some patterns in looking at the ingredients, like that all the home-made recipes had baking soda in them. We weren't quite sure what all the ingredients were in the store-bought ones, as the names were technical and we didn't know enough about those "chemicals."
We agreed to look at the ingredients we knew about, like baking soda, coconut oil, and sugar, etc. While looking at them individually was interesting, we want to see what happens when each of them is placed with water, to see which ingredient causes bubbles to form!
