We're all feeling the fatigue associated with the pandemic. So it was okay to come back from winter break and imagine I was drinking a cold coffee on the beach, right?
And then it got me thinking...why does my "oh-so-delicious-cold-coffee" warm up in that regular 'ol cup they give me? Why don't they give it to me in those fancy cups that work so much better? Wait, do the fancy cups work better?
So we wanted to see for ourselves! And we were off...doing some tests on our own! Check out some of the data we collected with both a regular cup and a fancy cup!

We had a good discussion around all the reasons our data was all over the place (a challenge we've found in remote learning). Students agreed to use Mrs. Brinza's data (she had a digital thermometer while everyone else had a standard thermometer) and we went from there!
We recognized it was time to explain why we were thinking the regular cup warmed up more than the fancy cup! Check out some students' ideas!
After Mrs. Brinza checked out everyone's ideas, she compiled a list of lots of ideas students had to explain what was going on in the cup systems:
After discussing our thoughts, we worked to come to an agreement about what we thought, where we might disagree, and any other ideas we might want to consider. We also generated some related phenomena and set up our Driving Question Board. So many ideas!
