To close out their unit on Midwestern Ecosystems, fifth graders played a game in which they were each one of four organisms in a wetland. Each organism was impacted with various moves, like an increase in a predator, an environmental spill, or a drought. Students had to identify whether the event was beneficial, negative, or had no impact at all. Little did students realize that these types of events happen all the time, and they truly impact the ebb and flow of an ecosystem! |
