After one last candling event, we decided as classes that we wanted to see what was in the eggs that weren't developing like the others. We thought this could confirm the images we saw of typical chicks over the 21 incubation period. Please note this is sensitive to see, as as a result, you may want to skip over this blog post if this is too challenging for you to see. The video below, recorded by a student, shows Mrs. Brinza breaking open one of the eggs that we had figured out was the furthest developed but not alive.
This experience confirmed that not only weren't they alive any more, but that our chicks were at different stages of development. The research pictures we were using were accurate according to the first hand evidence we gathered.
