So we figured out that worms eat dead plant parts (like in our Dead Stuff Columns) but then we wondered if there was other stuff that can eat dead plant parts, too. We saw some stuff growing on trees, and since they got bigger over time, they must be living organisms, too. These are fungus! We're not quite sure exactly how they eat, and this was the same thinking we had with the mold.
Do fungi have mouths? How exactly do they consume food? Are they more similar to animals and the way they eat? Or are they more similar to the way that plants eat? And we're still not really sure how plants eat, either. More investigating coming our way!
