Fifth graders have been doing such a wonderful job with remote learning. We shared out things that have been filling our buckets alongside sharing things that have been draining them...
We've even acknowledged that our parents seem more stressed now, too. So we decided to help them (even just a little bit) by committing to washing something around the house/apartment. And boy, did helping them out fill everyone's buckets!
Little did 5th graders know that this kind gesture would be the launch of our first unit of the year! Everyone got a chance to share in PearDeck how they helped and we discussed how similar/different some students' cleaning processes were:

We recognized that we had lots in common between our processes and lots that was different. But we all agreed we started with clean water and ended up with it being dirty!
