We're off to a great start in 6th grade! After thinking about our fancy and regular cups, our initial experiment proved the fancy cup's claim: the fancy cup is definitely better at keeping the drink inside it cold!
We built out our initial models to explain our thinking and here they are:

We really thought about how each of these cups was like other things in our life, and we created related phenomena lists. In layman's terms, these are things that seemingly act like the fancy cup, and either keep something warm or cold inside of it. Here are our lists!
From here, we began to wonder how these related phenomena acted like the fancy cups...so we developed some related phenomena models, and we started to notice some patterns. There seems to be lots of layers or layers that appear to be thick, a way to block air from coming in or out, and little chances for heat or cold to move.
