Each group is ready to clean their dirty water. We figured that this would be a better first step in our process to answering our Driving Question rather than trying to figure out where the stuff went that we can't see. If we clean out some of the stuff, maybe we'll find the stuff we can't claim to see.
Each group brainstormed and agreed on three tools they'll use to clean their dirty water. They made predictions for what they'd be able to remove.
Each group brainstormed and agreed on three tools they'll use to clean their dirty water. They made predictions for what they'd be able to remove.
There were three main predictions from the classes.
1. With the three tools they chose, they would be able to remove everything we put in the water.
2. With the three tools they chose, they would only be able to remove the stuff that they could identify once they put it in the water (chocolate chips, toilet paper, sand, black pepper, graham crackers and oil).
3. With the three tools they chose, they would only be able to remove all the solids (so vinegar and oil couldn't be removed).
After we discussed our predictions, we began using our tools to clean the dirty water. Here's what happened!

We'll be using more tools tomorrow to see if we can get the water even cleaner!
