After dissecting a store-bought egg, we came to an agreement on the parts that are inside the egg. With more discussion, we are realizing a couple things:
1. The eggs from the store and the eggs from the farm (unfertilized vs. fertilized) are INCREDIBLY similar. They share shells, membranes, air sacs, chalazas, germinal discs, egg whites and egg yolks.
2. The only difference we think is in the germinal disc...the one in the store bought egg must never have had sperm visit it. We're thinking about investigating this next.
3. The egg yolk and the egg white are food for the developing chicks. We know this because both the egg and the white contain food molecules--which are protein, fat, and carbohydrates.
